Zamboanga City imposes indefinite LSI moratorium, considers stricter COVID-19 measures

Zamboanga City will indefinitely impose a moratorium on the entry of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) starting October 26 due to rising COVID-19 cases.

The city government attributes the increase in cases to being a transit point for LSIs and ROFs, as well as a treatment area for infected patients.

As of October 19, there were 2,472 confirmed cases with 1,572 recoveries and 103 deaths; 797 are active infections.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar is also considering stricter measures including a reimposition of Sunday lockdowns and an expansion of curfew hours to curb the surge in cases.
