UST beats Ateneo 77-54 in UAAP women's basketball

University of Santo Tomas secured a convincing 77-54 victory over Ateneo de Manila University in the UAAP Season 87 women's basketball tournament on Wednesday, maintaining their unbeaten record with two wins.

Despite Kacey Dela Rosa’s impressive performance for Ateneo, UST capitalized on its balanced attack from key players like Kent Pastrana and Eka Soriano to dominate the game.

UST opened strong in the first quarter with six three-pointers, leading by 32-20, a lead they maintained throughout the match despite Ateneo's efforts to close the gap.

Coach Haydee Ong emphasized that UST’s system relies heavily on their long-range shooting, which was evident as they drained 12 shots from behind the arc in this game.

Pastrana led UST with 20 points, eight rebounds, and three steals, while Soriano contributed 12 points, seven assists, and three rebounds; Tacky Tacatac also chipped in with four triples for 14 points.
