UST breaks record with 170-46 win in UAAP girls' basketball

University of Santo Tomas (UST) broke records with a historic 170-46 victory over Ateneo de Manila University in the UAAP Season 87 girls' basketball tournament on Sunday.

The Junior Tigresses shattered their previous record set against Adamson University in January 2020, scoring 129 more points and widening the margin by 25 points compared to the earlier mark of 121-44.

Grachelle Boteros led UST with 25 points and six rebounds, while Barby Dajao contributed 21 points, five assists, and four steals in a dominant performance by all 16 players.

UST coach Sen Dysangco praised Ateneo's resilience despite the lopsided scoreline, emphasizing the importance of character development over winning for his players.

Dysangco highlighted the significance of continuing such tournaments post-pandemic to support young players and basketball programs.
