UP sweeps UST in baseball and softball, eyes Adamson

University of the Philippines secured a 7-2 victory over University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP Season 87 baseball tournament on Wednesday and followed up with a 6-1 win against UST in the softball elimination round on Saturday at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

UP's softball team finished the elimination round with a strong record of 6-2, while UST ended with a 3-5 record, dropping them to fourth place.

The Fighting Maroons' victory was highlighted by pitcher Celine Chang's performance in the first three innings and KC Valino's relief pitching that sealed the win with key defensive plays.

UP head coach Ron Pagkaliwagan emphasized preparation for the championship series against Adamson University, which begins on Tuesday, while UST faces De La Salle University in a third-place game.
