NU edges closer to sweep, sets UP-UST playoff

National University edged closer to an elimination round sweep in the UAAP Season 86 Women's Tennis tournament with a narrow 3-2 victory over De La Salle University on Sunday.

University of Santo Tomas and University of the Philippines forced a playoff for the second Finals spot after both ended their matches with identical 5-3 records, setting up a decisive match on Saturday.

Reigning MVP Mae Bornia and Luivy Carvajal secured a crucial win for NU against DLSU's Amor Idjao and Jam Madis, contributing significantly to their undefeated record of 8-0.

UST's Kaye Emana managed to bring UST back into contention by winning her match against DLSU, but it was not enough to secure a victory for her team as NU completed its sweep with the narrow win.

The playoff between UP and UST will determine who faces National University in the Finals, while De La Salle University finishes their season in last place with a 1-7 record.
