UP Fighting Maroons sweep DLSU in baseball and softball

The University of the Philippines' Fighting Maroons secured a 7-5 victory over De La Salle University in baseball and then followed up with a 5-0 softball triumph against DLSU on Wednesday, marking their first softball win after two losses.

In the UAAP Season 86 softball tournament, UP's victory improved their record to 3-2, while DLSU fell to 1-4.

UP's assistant coach Vlad Eguia highlighted the team's focus in baseball, and head coach Ron Pagkaliwagan emphasized the momentum gained for upcoming matches against Adamson University.

The Fighting Maroons dominated with a big fourth inning in softball, scoring three runs off two triples by Algrace Adajar and Martine Francisco, extending their lead to 5-0.

Fighting Maroons pitcher KC Valino threw an impressive shutout despite allowing one hit from DLSU's Labargan, while UP catcher Reuel Caoagdan played a key role in the victory with strategic base-running skills.
