FEU wins women's volleyball match over Ateneo

Far Eastern University concluded its UAAP Season 86 men's and women's volleyball tournament first-round campaigns with decisive victories over Ateneo de Manila University on Sunday.

In the women's match, FEU secured a victory over Ateneo with scores of 25-22, 22-25, 25-13, and 25-21 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, securing a solo fourth place with a 4-3 record.

Chen Tagaod led FEU's balanced attack with 18 points, including two blocks and an ace, complemented by 10 excellent digs and 13 receptions; Jean Asis contributed 12 points; and Faida Bakanke added another 11 points to their team’s success.

FEU's net defense was crucial for the victory, with a season-high 15 block points against Ateneo.

Coach Manolo Refugia emphasized the need for consistency as FEU heads into the second round, aiming to maintain their performance against stronger competition like defending champion La Salle, National University, and unbeaten leader University of Santo Tomas.
