Taal on Alert Level 4 despite drop in emissions

Taal Volcano remains on Alert Level 4 despite a decrease in sulfur dioxide emissions and volcanic earthquakes.

Phivolcs reported an average SO2 emission of 141 tonnes per day on Thursday, down from previous days but still significant.

The number of volcanic earthquakes also decreased to six recorded by the Philippine Seismic Network over the past 24 hours.

Despite these decreases, PHIVOLCS warns that magma has moved up near the surface and could lead to further eruptive activity.

Volcanic monitoring parameters show a downtrend but experts remain cautious as the volcano's behavior is unpredictable.
