Taal Volcano still active, Alert Level 4 remains

Taal Volcano remains active despite weaker quakes and decreased surface activity, according to PHIVOLCS.

The agency recorded 184 volcanic tectonic earthquakes, 13 tremors, and nine instances of magma movement between 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday.

PHIVOLCS officer-in-charge Undersecretary Renato Solidum said the volcano is still active as indicated by the recent earthquakes.

Alert Level 4 remains raised over Taal Volcano, meaning a hazardous eruption is imminent.

Total evacuation from the danger zone around Taal Volcano is necessary due to ongoing volcanic activity and the possibility of a strong eruption.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) continues to monitor the situation closely.
