PhilHealth assures PHP30B fund for COVID-19 patients

PhilHealth assured Thursday it has PHP30 billion to cover the health packages of coronavirus patients.

The state-owned firm's president Ricardo Morales said they have enough funds despite a shortfall in insurance collections due to cash-strapped members.

Morales added that PhilHealth will implement a case rate system starting Wednesday, April 15, with varying costs for mild, moderate, severe, and critical pneumonia cases.

PhilHealth will assess patients' capacity to pay if hospital bills exceed the set rates; those unable to pay can request additional funding from PhilHealth.
