PH reports 207 new COVID-19 cases, death toll reaches 362

As of Thursday, April 16, the Philippines reported 207 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of cases to 5,660.

The death toll increased by 13 to reach 362, while recoveries surged by a record-high 82 to 435.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III faced calls for resignation from 14 senators over his handling of the pandemic.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque stated that the country has yet to flatten the curve despite two weeks remaining in the enhanced community quarantine, with cases continuing to rise.

Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) announced full coverage for hospital bills of patients admitted between February 1 and April 14.
