DOH Reports Increased COVID-19 Testing and Cases

The DOH reported 61,049 individual tests for COVID-19 as of Wednesday, with 7,797 positive cases and 53,147 negative cases.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire clarified that the total number of positive cases could be higher due to ongoing case validation and processing.

Fifty-five health workers at Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center have tested positive for COVID-19; more than 400 additional tests are pending, potentially increasing the numbers further.

The Philippines reported an increase of 111 new confirmed cases on Wednesday, bringing the total to 6,710. There were also 39 recoveries and 9 deaths added to the national tally.

At the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH), 62 staff members and 13 psychiatric patients have tested positive for coronavirus; asymptomatic health workers are under home quarantine while symptomatic ones are hospitalized.
