Petro Gazz secures PVL All-Filipino quarterfinal spot

Petro Gazz secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference by defeating Capital1 on Saturday at the PhilSports Arena, following a meeting with coach Koji Tsuzurabara who expressed concerns after Galeries' upset win over Cignal.

Brooke Van Sickle led Petro Gazz to victory with 19 points, including 15 kills, two blocks, and two aces, as the team maintained their perfect record in the qualifying round with a 10-1 performance.

In the third set, Van Sickle spearheaded a surge before Capital1 briefly rallied; however, Petro Gazz clinched victory after Ethan Arce delivered the game-winning point, securing their quarterfinal spot alongside Creamline and Galeries as early playoff qualifiers.

Coach Tsuzurabara acknowledged his team's initial worries but emphasized the importance of focusing on each match ahead. Van Sickle echoed this sentiment, stressing that the championship is the ultimate goal but must be approached one game at a time.

The reigning All-Filipino MVP praised her teammates for their consistent effort and noted that while Petro Gazz has been dominant, every team in the playoffs will fight hard to advance.

Despite initial concerns following Galeries' upset win over Cignal, Petro Gazz quickly regained composure with a decisive 3-0 sweep against Capital1, powered by Van Sickle's stellar performance and Pablo's veteran leadership.
