Galeries Tower shocks Cignal, advances to quarters

Galeries Tower stunned Cignal HD Spikers with a 3-1 victory in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference qualification round at the PhilSports Arena on Thursday, setting the stage for upcoming matches this Saturday.

Petro Gazz and Capital1 will face off at 4 p.m., while Choco Mucho and Chery Tiggo will compete at 6:30 p.m. in their one-game qualifications to advance to the quarterfinals.

The winners of these matches will join Galeries Tower and Creamline in the best-of-three quarters, scheduled for Thursday, while losers will enter a two-group play-in phase.

Ysa Jimenez and France Elize Ronaquillo led Galeries Tower's charge with outstanding performances, scoring 23 and 20 points respectively, securing their place as underdogs who triumphed over Cignal in the preliminaries.

With Petro Gazz coming in as heavy favorites against Capital1, both teams will be eyeing a quick pass to the next round following Galeries Tower's shock victory over Cignal.
