Thunderstorms, heavy rain over Metro Manila, nearby provinces until Friday

Thunderstorms are more likely to develop over Greater Metro Manila and could last until Friday noon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Rainfall with lightning and strong winds is expected in Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Quezon, Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Tarlac, Pampanga, and Zambales’s Sta. Cruz and Candelaria.

A frontal system may cause rains in parts of northern Luzon, particularly in Batanes and Cagayan, while Isabela and Aurora are expected to experience rain due to a shear line.

Pagasa weather specialist Rhea Torres said the convergence of cold and warm air winds could result in rainfall.

Cloud clusters in southern Philippines might form into a low-pressure area and enter the Philippine area of responsibility in the coming days.
