NU Lady Bulldogs beat La Salle in Game 1 of UAAP volleyball finals

The National University Lady Bulldogs defeated De La Salle University's Lady Spikers in Game 1 of their UAAP women's volleyball finals on Mother's Day, May 11.

This championship marks National U’s fourth consecutive finals appearance, having won titles in Seasons 84 and 86. Meanwhile, La Salle seeks to avenge its loss in Season 85 and missed out on the Final Four last season.

In Game 1 of their UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball championship series on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, NU defeated La Salle in four sets with scores of 25-17, 25-21, 13-25, and 25-17.

Vange Alinsug led the Lady Bulldogs with 21 points while Bella Belen contributed a triple-double of 19 points, 15 digs, and 10 receptions. Angel Canino powered La Salle with 22 markers and Shevana Laput had 16.

Shaira Jardio made significant defensive contributions with 28 excellent receptions and 18 excellent digs, positioning NU to potentially sweep the series in Game 2 on Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena.
