National University secures first twice-to-beat in UAAP women's volleyball

National University secured the first twice-to-beat advantage in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament with a decisive victory over Far Eastern University on Wednesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

With an undefeated second round performance, National University improved its record to 12-3 and now faces No.4 FEU in the Final Four on May 4.

Alyssa Solomon led NU's victory earlier with 13 points, while Bella Belen contributed significantly with 12 attack points; however, Michael Buddin topped today’s scoring efforts with 17 points, followed by Nico Almendras with 15 markers.

Coach Norman Miguel reminded his team not to rest on their laurels and emphasized the need for peak performance as they prepare for a potential semifinal showdown.

Belen echoed her coach's sentiments, stressing that despite having a twice-to-beat advantage, the team must focus on winning Game 1 in the Final Four without relying on this incentive.

The league clarified that if De La Salle University loses to the University of Santo Tomas on Saturday, National University will secure a twice-to-beat bonus in the semifinals; otherwise, they will compete for the second spot in the Final Four.
