Monares key in UP women's volleyball win over FEU

Joan Monares has become a key scorer for the University of the Philippines' women's volleyball team, leading them to an impressive 2-0 start in the UAAP Season 87 tournament.

In their latest match against Far Eastern University on Wednesday, February 19, Monares scored 19 points with 17 spikes and two aces, contributing to UP's victory over FEU for the first time since June 2022.

Monares credits her return from a left ankle injury and the team's off-season work for their early success this season.

The third-year player aims to continue improving and looks forward to UP's upcoming match against Ateneo Blue Eagles on Sunday, February 23.

UP's new system under coach Benson Bocboc and contributions from rookie players like Kianne Olango have also contributed to the team's strong start.
