Ateneo blanks UP, Buena scores 17 in comeback

Ateneo de Manila secured its first win in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament by blanking the University of the Philippines, 25-18, 25-22, 25-18, on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Coach Sergio Veloso viewed Ateneo's previous two games as victories for their opponents rather than losses, emphasizing that in the last three matches and eleven sets, his team lost only one set to Adamson.

Sobe Buena, making her season debut after a left ankle injury, contributed significantly with 17 points and six excellent digs, helping Ateneo extend its dominance over UP to ten consecutive victories dating back to Season 81.

Buena dedicated her performance to the entire Ateneo community, including injured teammates Jlo delos Santos and Zel Tsunashima, as she expressed her motivation to make it to the final four.

De Guzman highlighted the collective effort of her teammates and expressed gratitude towards the Ateneo community for their unwavering support throughout the season.
