UP women's volleyball team starts season strong with victory over FEU

University of the Philippines' women's volleyball team secured a second straight victory in the UAAP Season 87 tournament by defeating Far Eastern University on Wednesday night at FilOil EcoOil Centre, marking their best start since posting just one win in Season 86.

The Fighting Maroons improved to 2-0 and now share the top spot with defending champion National University, a stark contrast from being viewed as levels below real title chasers like NU, La Salle, and UST last year.

Coach Benson Bocboc highlighted the team's unity and improvement under his guidance, emphasizing their balanced offense led by Joan Monares and Kianne Olango, along with a strong defense and blocking strategy.

Niña Ytang attributed their success to the collective effort of the team and new system under Coach Bocboc, noting that consistency is key moving forward as they build off their newfound winning ways.

UP aims to make it three wins in a row this Sunday when they face an injury-riddled Ateneo at Mall of Asia Arena.
