Meralco Bolts beat Magnolia Hotshots 82-74 in PBA Governors Cup

The Meralco Bolts secured an 82-74 victory over the Magnolia Hotshots in their PBA Governors Cup match on Saturday night.

Chris Newsome led Meralco with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Bong Quinto contributed 16 points to help secure the win.

Despite playing without import Glenn Robinson III for a second straight game due to FIBA clearance issues, Magnolia put up a fight but fell short against the Bolts.

Zavier Lucero led Magnolia's efforts with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Mark Barroca added 12 points in a poor shooting night for the Hotshots (29.1 percent from the field).

The win improved Meralco's record to 5-1, putting them at the top of Group A, while Magnolia fell to 3-4.

Meralco will face sister team TNT on Sept. 12, while Magnolia aims for a rebound against Terrafirma on the same date.
