Galvez: Over half of Metro Manila target pop fully vaccinated

More than half of the target population in Metro Manila have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr.

As of Wednesday, around five million people or 52.3% of the nine million target population in NCR received two doses of the vaccine, while 81.72% got their first dose.

Galvez also stated that due to the Delta variant, the country will raise its vaccination target from 70% to up to 90% to achieve herd immunity by early next year.

Manila is the only city in NCR not under Alert Level 4 and has a lower hospital bed occupancy rate compared to other areas in the region.
