LGUs suspend classes as Paeng hits Mindanao, Caraga

Local government units in Northern Mindanao, Caraga region, and Catanduanes suspended classes on Friday due to Tropical Storm Paeng.

In Camiguin province, Governor Xavier Jesus Romualdo suspended all levels of classes and canceled activities for the Lanzones Festival.

Mayor Erick Caōosa of Gingoog City and Mayor Azucena Huervas in Valencia City also ordered class suspensions.

Mabs Galvez from the Office of Civil Defense reported that five LGUs in Bukidnon had issued class suspensions, with preemptive evacuations and canceled trips due to heavy rains.

In Caraga region, Surigao del Norte Governor Robert Lyndon Barbers suspended classes for safety reasons while maintaining government operations related to emergency services.

Dinagat Islands Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. ordered the suspension of classes and work at the provincial government, with only essential emergency services remaining active.

Tandag City Mayor Roxanne Pimentel advised fisherfolk not to go out to sea and enforced preemptive evacuations in low-lying areas.

The Philippine Coast Guard suspended voyages of all vessels and watercraft in Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands.
