DLSU women's volleyball beats UE, shows room for improvement

De La Salle University's women's volleyball team secured their second consecutive victory in UAAP Season 87 with a win over the University of the East on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Lady Spikers won by scores of 25-12, 23-25, 25-14, and 25-17, improving their record to 3-2 for their first winning record this season after a rough start.

Despite the victory, assistant coach Noel Orcullo expressed disappointment over errors that allowed UE to tie in the second set, noting the team's lack of respect towards weaker opponents.

Angel Canino led De La Salle with 20 points, while rookie setter Mikole Reyes orchestrated her best game yet with 23 excellent sets and Jyne Soreño contributed significantly in the latter sets, scoring 12 points overall.

Soreño provided a spark off the bench to help La Salle recover from a disappointing second-set defeat, emphasizing the need for improvement ahead of their upcoming match against Ateneo on Wednesday at the same venue.
