ITCZ poses flood, landslide threat to Davao Region

Flash floods and landslides continue to threaten Region 11 (Davao) due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), with conditions expected to improve by Friday, January 8.

PAGASA hydrologist Aileen Abelardo warns that despite improving weather, areas in Davao remain saturated from previous rains and are still at risk for flooding and landslides.

Cloudiness with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will persist until around Friday, potentially causing moderate to heavy rainfall that can trigger flash floods and landslides.

Waterways in several provinces including Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, Davao de Oro, and Davao del Norte are at risk of overflowing due to ITCZ rain.
