Civil society files impeachment complaint against VP Sara Duterte

A civil society group has filed an impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte at the House of Representatives.

House Secretary General Reginald Velasco stated that additional complaints are being considered by some lawmakers, with plans to file or endorse another complaint before December 18.

Velasco's office is on hold in transmitting existing complaints until more are submitted and will transmit all complaints to Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez next week.

Lawmakers from the Makabayan bloc have initiated efforts to gather signatures for a 'Resolution of Impeachment' based on grounds of betrayal of public trust and issues related to confidential funds.

Critics argue that Duterte's failure to account for public fund spending has paved the way for moves seeking her removal from office.

No impeachment talks were discussed during the Wednesday Christmas fellowship dinner at Malacañang, according to Velasco and other lawmakers.
