Two impeachment complaints filed against VP Sara Duterte over fund misuse

The House of Representatives has received two separate impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte.

The allegations focus on her use of confidential funds and alleged corruption during her tenure at the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).

Complaints cite misuse of funds, bribery, high crimes, and betrayal of public trust.

Around 50 representatives are planning to file another complaint.

The House will need one-third of its members to agree before elevating the case to the Senate for trial.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has distanced himself from the impeachment efforts, emphasizing that it is an independent initiative by private citizens.

The Senate, under Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, remains prepared to fulfill its constitutional mandate with integrity and impartiality.
