Marcos hosts House members at Malacañang amid Duterte impeachment

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. welcomed hundreds of House members to Malacañang on Wednesday night, December 4, for a 'Christmas fellowship' that coincided with ongoing impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte.

The event was scheduled ahead of the recent filing of two impeachment complaints against Duterte and is meant to foster a relationship between the executive branch and the legislative body.

During the dinner, Speaker Martin Romualdez presented a manifesto expressing full support for Marcos's leadership and referenced threats made by Duterte and her camp.

While some lawmakers insist that the meeting was purely for fellowship and thanking members for supporting the administration’s agenda, others view it against the backdrop of the impeachment process.
