House panel concludes probe into Sara Duterte's use of public funds

The House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability concluded its investigation into Vice President Sara Duterte's use of public money outside the P612.5 million in confidential funds with a final hearing on Monday, December 9.

Committee Chair Joel Chua stated that after concluding their probe into the OVP and DepEd’s confidential funds, they will now shift focus to broader financial inquiries following concerns raised by committee members.

Panel members listed potential violations during the last hearing but stopped short of recommending filing cases against Duterte.

The committee plans to tighten requirements for appointing special disbursing officers and impose stricter limitations on all types of government funding to ensure accountability and prevent misuse.

Proceedings will now be handed over to the justice committee, which will handle two impeachment complaints against Duterte focusing on her disbursement of secret funds.
