Senate eyes boosting calamity funds for 2021

The Senate finance committee is studying the possibility of increasing calamity funds for 2021.

Some local government units affected by Super Typhoon Rolly have already spent their calamity funds on COVID-19 pandemic response efforts.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said these LGUs can request additional funds from national agencies with Quick Response Funds, such as the OCD, DSWD, DOH, and DA.

The government has P3.622 billion available for Super Typhoon Rolly relief efforts, which includes the remainder of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund augmented by P5 billion under Bayanihan 2.
