Cavite declares state of calamity due to Taal Volcano eruption

The provincial board of Cavite declared a state of calamity on January 15 due to the Taal Volcano eruption.

Cavite Vice Governor Jolo Revilla announced this after a special session approved the resolution.

While there have been no reported deaths and minimal property damage in Cavite, funds are needed for evacuees from Batangas.

Governor Jonvic Remulla allocated P15 million to support evacuation centers in Alfonso, Tagaytay City, and Dasmariñas starting January 16.

Around 15,000 people from Batangas are temporarily staying in Cavite with care packages provided consisting of rice, canned goods, infant formula, diapers, and medicines.
