Agaton remains stationary over Eastern Samar, brings heavy rains

Tropical Depression Agaton remains almost stationary over Eastern Samar and continues to bring heavy rains to parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

As of Tuesday night, PAGASA reported that Agaton is in the vicinity of Quinapondan, Eastern Samar, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gusts up to 75 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 remains hoisted over eight areas: Eastern Samar, Samar, Northern Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Camotes Island, and Dinagat Islands in Mindanao.

Agaton triggered massive flooding and landslides in Leyte and other parts of Visayas on Monday, damaging houses and infrastructure.

Moderate to heavy rains are forecast over Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region, northern and central portions of Cebu, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Antique, Guimaras, and the northern and central portions of Negros Provinces.
