DA: Agaton causes P265M agri damage

As of Tuesday, April 12, agricultural damage and losses from Typhoon Agaton were initially estimated at P265.3 million.

The typhoon affected 2,132 farmers in Eastern Visayas and Caraga regions, causing a production loss of 16,532 metric tons across 3,060 hectares.

Rice was the most impacted crop with losses amounting to P250.1 million, followed by banana at P13.9 million and corn at P1.4 million.

The Department of Agriculture will provide assistance including rice, corn, and vegetable seeds as well as drugs and biologics for livestock and poultry.
