Adamson rookie Shaina Nitura breaks Alyssa Valdez's scoring record with 314 points in 12 games

Adamson University rookie Shaina Nitura broke Alyssa Valdez's decade-old scoring record with 314 points in just 12 games during UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball.

Nitura scored an impressive 37 points as Adamson defeated Far Eastern University (FEU) in four sets, 14-25, 29-27, 25-22, 25-22, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, April 12.

The rookie's performance earned her the Collegiate Press Corps' UAAP Players of the Week honors for the period of April 9 to 13, supported by minor sponsors Discovery Suites and World Balance.

Nitura has now claimed a new league record for the fourth time this season and is the undisputed Rookie of the Year frontrunner with two games left in the season.

Adamson head coach JP Yude reminded Nitura to stay humble and be a role model for her teammates as she continues to break records, while Nitura expressed gratitude to God and praised her teammates' determination despite the team's challenging start.
