NU wins decisive 3-0 victory over Ateneo to secure twice-to-beat

Defending champion National University clinched a decisive 3-0 victory over Ateneo de Manila University on Sunday, April 13, securing a twice-to-beat incentive in the UAAP Season 87 Women's Volleyball Final Four.

Alyssa Solomon, returning from an ankle injury, contributed significantly with 12 points to lead NU to their win and secure the top seed in the tournament.

Bella Belen continued her strong performance with a triple-double of 16 points, including two blocks and two aces, along with 13 excellent receptions and 10 digs, emphasizing that despite securing the twice-to-beat advantage, the team aims to improve further before the finals.

Despite showing signs of life in the third set, Ateneo's efforts were insufficient to mount a comeback against NU’s solid defense and consistent offense, extending their losing streak to four games.

NU now holds an 11-2 record at solo No. 1 above other semifinals contenders La Salle (8-3), UST (8-4), FEU (8-5), and UP (5-6).

The loss extended Ateneo's poor run, leaving them with a 4-9 record and assured of no higher than a sixth-ranked finish for the season.

With this win, NU demonstrated their dominance in the league and solidified their position as strong contenders for the championship.
