Philippines logs 6,879 new COVID-19 cases

The Philippines reported 6,879 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, August 3, bringing the total case count to 1,612,541.

Active cases increased to 63,137 with 94% mild, 1.3% asymptomatic, 2.1% severe, and 1.2% critical.

Recoveries rose by 6,337 to a total of 1,521,263 while the death toll increased to 28,141 with 48 new fatalities.

The DOH removed 100 duplicates from the case count and reclassified some recoveries as active cases or deaths after validation.

Eighteen previously tagged recoveries were reclassified as deaths following final verification.
