DOH reports 119 new Delta variant cases

The Department of Health reported 119 new cases of the highly transmissible COVID-19 Delta variant on Friday, August 6, bringing the total number of known Delta cases in the Philippines to 450.

Of these new cases, 78% are local cases with most located in Metro Manila and Western Visayas; 20 are returning overseas Filipinos; and six cases remain unverified.

The DOH also noted that 118 out of the newly reported cases have been tagged as recovered while one case's outcome is still being verified.

Additionally, concerns persist about underreporting due to limited sequencing by the Philippine Genome Center.
