DOH: ECQ may prevent up to 15K daily new NCR cases

The Department of Health (DOH) projects that despite the reimposition of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), active COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila could still increase to around 30,000.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that without ECQ measures, daily new cases could be much higher, potentially reaching an average of 15,000 per day.

DOH's FASSSTER and Autumn groups' projections show a possible increase from the current 12,108 active cases to over 30,000 by mid-August.
