Scattered rains expected in PH due to shear line, tropical depression trough

The shear line and the trough of a tropical depression are expected to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to several parts of the Philippines on Sunday.

Visayas, Bicol Region, Calabarzon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Dinagat Islands will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.

The Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi may also anticipate cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms because of the tropical depression's trough.

The northeast monsoon, locally known as "amihan," is forecast to bring rain to the rest of Luzon.

The tropical depression was located 620 kilometers south of Kalayaan, Palawan, and was moving north-northeastward at 20 kilometers per hour (kph), with maximum winds of 55 kph and gusts reaching up to 70 kph.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina stated that there is a possibility of raising a tropical cyclone wind signal in the Kalayaan Islands area.
