Tropical depression outside PAR may enter, named Rumina

A tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) may enter the country and be named "Rumina," potentially becoming the 18th tropical storm this year.

The weather system was last seen 620 kilometers south of Kalayaan, Palawan, moving north-northeast with sustained winds of 55 kph and gusts of up to 70 kph.

Its trough is currently bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Zamboanga Peninsula and the island provinces of Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

The rest of Mindanao can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Additionally, the shear line and the northeast monsoon (amihan) are forecast to bring rains to the Visayas, Bicol Region, Calabarzon, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Dinagat Islands.
