Castañeda celebrates Yulo's historic double gold at Paris Olympics

Coach Allen Castañeda expressed his joy over Carlos Yulo's historic victory at the Paris Olympics, where Yulo became the first Filipino to win two gold medals in one Olympics.

Castañeda shared that winning the first gold medal brought tears to both him and Yulo because it exceeded their expectations; however, they initially planned for just one gold medal.

Winning a second gold was described by Castañeda as hitting the jackpot, emphasizing the unexpected success of their efforts. The Philippines' 2-0-2 medal tally tied with Hong Kong's performance in the Olympics.

With Yulo and his team now back in Manila after landing at Villamor Airbase on Tuesday night, they will take some time off before preparing for the 2028 Games.

Castañeda believes that Yulo's achievements will bring more support to gymnastics in the Philippines and improve its prioritization.
