Philippines secures fourth Olympic medal with Nesthy Petecio's bronze

The Philippines secured its fourth medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics with Nesthy Petecio's bronze medal finish on Wednesday, placing the country at No. 23 in the updated medal table.

Currently tied with Hong Kong and just behind Belgium, the Philippines has two gold medals and two bronzes, surpassing its performance in Tokyo where it won one gold and two silvers along with a bronze.

Carlos Yulo won the first two gold medals for the country over the weekend in men's floor exercise and vault events, briefly pushing the Philippines to No. 19 in the medal table.

Aira Villegas contributed a bronze medal after finishing in the semifinals of women's 50 kg division on Tuesday, while Bianca Pagdanganan and Dottie Ardina are competing in women's golf and Vanessa Sarno is set to compete in weightlifting with hopes for additional medals.

Petecio added another bronze medal by competing in the women's 57 kg category against Julia Szeremeta of Poland, bringing the total number of medals to four and placing the Philippines outside the Top 20 with only four days left in the Olympics.
