President welcomes Olympic athletes; private reception, heroes' parade

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will welcome Filipino Olympic athletes back to the country on Tuesday evening with a private reception at Villamor Air Base before proceeding to Malacañang Palace for an awarding ceremony and dinner.

The heroes' parade for the Filipino Olympians, led by two-time gold medalist Carlos Yulo, will take place on Wednesday starting at 3:00 p.m. from Aliw Theater in Pasay City to the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Upon arrival at Malacañang Palace, President Marcos and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos will personally honor all athletes with cash incentives as mandated by Republic Act 10699, plus additional bonuses announced by the President during the ceremony.

Carlos Yulo will receive a special award from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., including a Presidential Medal of Merit, in addition to the law-mandated P20 million for his two gold medals and private sector bonuses.

Team Philippines secured four medals in the Paris Games: two gold medals from Carlos Yulo and two bronze medals from boxers Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio, making them the best Southeast Asian team with Indonesia coming in second at 39th spot.
