MVP Group to be honored at SMC-PSA Awards Night for supporting Filipino athletes

The MVP Group of Companies will be honored at the upcoming San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sportswriters Association (SMC-PSA) Awards Night on January 27 for its continuous support to Filipino athletes, highlighted by Carlos Yulo's historic two gold medals in the Paris Olympics.

Under Manny V. Pangilinan's leadership, the corporation supported the training and participation of Team Philippines in the Paris Olympics, including Carlos Yulo, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas.

The event will also recognize other top performers from 2024, with a total of 117 awardees set to be honored, including Olympians who have represented the country over the past six decades.

Weightlifters Hidilyn Diaz, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas are among those receiving special awards for their achievements in the Paris Olympics; Yulo will receive the Athlete of the Year award.

Legendary weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz will be enshrined into the PSA Hall of Fame, while Petecio and Villegas will receive President's Awards for their bronze medal achievements at the Paris Games.

The Gymnastics Association of the Philippines is recognized as the National Sports Association (NSA) of the Year alongside other notable individuals in various sports disciplines.
