SMC-PSA Awards honors NCAA centennial, 18 awardees

The San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sportswriters Association (SMC-PSA) Awards Night, scheduled for January 27 at the Manila Hotel's Centennial Hall, will honor the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for its centennial season and recognize 18 personalities and entities.

Carlos Yulo is set to receive the Athlete of the Year award for his gold medals in international gymnastics competitions, while other notable recipients include the dragon boat national team Philippine Volcanoes, weightlifter Angeline Colonia, jiu-jitsu bet Isabella Joseline Butler, powerlifter Regie Ramirez, and grand slam winner Creamline.

The event also recognizes achievements in various sports such as table tennis, powerlifting, volleyball, chess, and more, with support from organizations like the Philippine Sports Commission and Philippine Olympic Committee.

Among the accomplishments highlighted are the Filipino paddlers' overall championship at the ICF Dragon Boat World Championship, Ruelle Canino's success in chess, and the Cool Smashers' dominance in women's volleyball.

The list of awardees includes Johann Chua and Albert James 'AJ' Manas (billiards), Carl Eldrew Yulo (gymnastics), Marc Dylan Custodio (bowling), Mark John Lexer Galedo (cycling), Lovely Inan (weightlifting), Philippine baseball team, Centennial 7 (sailing), Jessa Mae Tabuan (powerlifting), and Ramon 'Tats' Suzara (volleyball).
