Yulo back in training after Athlete of the Year award

Carlos Yulo, the Philippines' first double Olympic gold medalist, returned to training after receiving the Athlete of the Year award at the Philippine Sportswriters Association Awards Night on January 27.

Yulo is tempering expectations for this year as he focuses on improvements and aims to compete healthily in major events including the Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships in June and the Southeast Asian Games in December.

Weightlifting champion Hidilyn Diaz was inducted into the PSA Hall of Fame for her historic Olympic gold medal win in Tokyo 2021.

Other notable awardees included boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas who won bronze medals at the previous Olympics, and Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino who received the Executive of the Year award.
