VP Sara endorses 10 PDP-Laban senators, incl. Marcos, Villar

Vice President Sara Duterte endorsed ten senatorial candidates from the PDP-Laban slate on Monday, including Senator Imee Marcos and Rep. Camille Villar.

Duterte said she supports these candidates because they share a common vision for a peaceful and prosperous Philippines, despite ongoing political tensions with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s administration.

Senator Marcos left her brother's senatorial slate in late March citing differences over policy, while Rep. Villar remains part of the coalition despite Duterte’s endorsement.

The endorsement comes amid escalating feuds between the Marcos and Duterte clans who were once close allies but have since parted ways due to internal power struggles and policy disagreements.

Former presidential spokesman Harry Roque emphasized that the Marcoses cannot be fully trusted, while urging Duterte supporters to back her decision.

Lawmakers suggest that Duterte is endorsing senatorial candidates in a bid to strengthen her support in the Senate ahead of potential impeachment proceedings.
