UST boys' volleyball team one game away from round sweep

The University of Santo Tomas boys' volleyball team is one game away from sweeping the first round of the UAAP Season 87 tournament after defeating the UP Integrated School, 25-6, 25-7, 25-7, in a match that lasted only 42 minutes.

UST's dominant performance included 33 kills and 12 aces, with Zach Maude leading the team from the service line with nine points, including four aces and one block.

Head coach Clarence Esteban highlighted the development of the team's skills this year, noting improvements in setter play and defensive capabilities, particularly emphasizing the role of Kalel Legaspi as a true libero.

UP Integrated School struggled to score, with top scorer Marcos Bamba managing just one point.

Far Eastern University-Diliman also secured a sweep against De La Salle-Zobel earlier on Wednesday, improving their record to 3-3.

UST will face FEU-Diliman in an upcoming match set for Saturday at 11 a.m., with the potential for a first-round sweep.
