UST women's volleyball team wins eighth straight in UAAP

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) women's volleyball team secured their eighth victory in the UAAP Season 86 tournament with a hard-fought five-set win over Ateneo on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Coach Kungfu Reyes emphasized that this match provided valuable experience for his young players, especially dealing with pressure and large crowds.

UST's Angge Poyos led her team with 22 points despite getting hurt in the fourth set, while Cassie Carballo contributed a crucial 10-point performance including two key aces in the decisive fifth set to help maintain UST's perfect record.

Ateneo coach Sergio Veloso praised his players for their strong effort against the undefeated Tigresses, noting that this was one of the best matches of the season with both teams playing at high levels.

UST maintained their perfect record at 8-0, while Ateneo fell to a 2-6 standing after the match but remains hopeful in their Final Four aspirations with an upcoming game against the University of the Philippines on Sunday.
