UST tops FEU, ends first round with 6-1 record in UAAP women's hoops

University of Santo Tomas (UST) defeated Far Eastern University in the UAAP Season 87 women's basketball tournament on Saturday, ending the first round with a 6-1 record.

Coach Haydee Ong praised Kent Pastrana for her performance, who led UST with 22 points, 11 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks despite seven turnovers.

UST struggled in the final quarter but managed to secure a decisive victory of 66-57 behind key contributions from Eka Santos and CJ Maglupay, who had seven points and five blocks respectively.

Pastrana and Santos were instrumental in maintaining UST's lead during crucial moments late in the game, with Pastrana finishing as the top scorer.

UST concluded the first round at solo second place, trailing unbeaten National University (7-0), while Far Eastern University fell to 1-6 with their fourth straight loss.
